Preventive Maintenance of Oil Immersed Transformer
On November 26, 2023, preventive maintenance and testing activities that were conducted on the 2500KVA Oil Immersed Transformer Pad Mounted in one of our clients in First Philippines Industrial Park (FPIP) Sto.Tomas Batangas.
We have successfully completed these tasks under the supervision of our Testing and Commissioning Head, Engr. Aron S. Tangonan, and our project electrical engineer, Engr. Gabriel B. Castañeda Jr.
During the maintenance and testing period, our team performed a series of tests to ensure the transformer’s optimal performance. These include:
1. Insulation Resistance Test with Polarization Index: This test measures the insulation resistance of the transformer, indicating its ability to withstand electrical stress and prevent leakage currents.
2. Winding Resistance Test: This test measures the resistance of the transformer’s windings, which helps identify any potential issues such as loose connections or high resistance values.
3. Transformer Turns Ratio: This test determines the ratio between the primary and secondary windings, ensuring that the transformer is functioning within the specified voltage ranges.
4. Oil Dielectric Breakdown Voltage Test: This test evaluates the electrical strength of the oil used in the transformer, safeguarding against breakdowns and ensuring efficient operation.
5. Dissolved Gas Analysis: This test helps in identifying any abnormal gas concentrations in the transformer oil, indicating potential faults or aging components.
The successful completion of these preventive maintenance and testing activities ensures the longevity and reliability of the transformer, minimizing the risk of unexpected downtime.
